Despite Hot Summer, Hyundai Sales Are Not Melting
- 29,422 new customers for Hyundai in July; cumulated sales increase by 5 percent y-o-y
- Summer slump with lesser impact on sales than anticipated
Rüsselsheim, July 5th, 2005 – Hyundai Motor Europe reported cumulated sales up by 5 percent to 215,010 units for the year to date compared to last year. European customers purchased 29,422 Hyundai cars in July. With 5,357 new registrations, the Hyundai Tucson showed a strong sales performance, only succeeded by the Getz with 9,531 units.
“Despite vacation time in most European markets, Hyundai Motor Europe showed a strong sales performance,” said Ike Oh, President Hyundai Motor Europe GmbH. “One important attribute of our brand is, that people that decide for a new Hyundai car do not have to sacrifice their vacation budget. We have strong product packages paired with flexible financing solutions. This is one facet of Hyundai’s understanding of customer service, which is also perceived as such by our customers.”
Sales in the SUV- and MPV-segments represent over one third of Hyundai’s overall sales in Europe. Stronger selling than forecasted is also the new Sonata, which has found wide acclaim across Europe, bringing 4,959 new customers to the brand during the first seven months of this year.
“Hyundai is going to challenge the industry in quality, value, performance and standard safety features,” said Oh, adding: “We put more to a car and we are selling more than just a car. Our appeal and competitive advantage is our harmonious blend of product, service and attitude.”
