Sales Record for Hyundai Motor Europe Customer Confidence on the Rise
- 34,424 new customers for Hyundai in June; sales increase of 12 percent y-o-y
- Industry-leading improvement catapults Hyundai’s ranking in 2005 J.D. Power and Associates Vehicle Dependability Study
Rüsselsheim, July 5th, 2005 – The six-monthly interim result shows that Hyundai Motor Europe GmbH is on the right track. The company sold 185,577 units during the first half of 2005, up by 6 percent over the same period last year.
The growth of 12 percent in June compared to June 2004 is the result of a strengthened SUV line-up, spearheaded by the Tucson.
“We successfully positioned ourselves in a growing niche in the European car market,” said Ike Oh, President Hyundai Motor Europe GmbH. “SUVs will continue to gain growing market shares, bolstering our success in Europe.”
Oh added: “However, we are not focused on SUV, but also refining our offerings in other segments; for example, the new Sonata found great approval of our customers, selling 42 percent better than in June 2004. We are under way to prepare for a similar success of our B- and C-segment models.”
Furthermore, customers increasingly gain confidence in the Hyundai brand when it comes to reliability, dependability and service. Lately, customers in the USA testified that Hyundai improved dramatically: The 2005 J.D. Power and Associates Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS) revealed that problems per 100 Hyundai vehicles declined by 115, or 31 percent, and Hyundai moved up 12 places in the nameplate rankings, ahead of traditional quality brands such as Mercedes, Audi and Volkswagen.
The Hyundai Sonata was recognized by J.D. Power and Associates as one of the top three vehicles in dependability in the Entry Midsize Car category. More significantly, the Hyundai Tucson scored impressively in its first year of production, receiving praise from J.D. Power and Associates as the highest quality all-new model launched in the industry in 2005.
