Hyundai Sales Up 6% in Europe

  • Sales for Hyundai are on the rise for 14 consecutive months

Rüsselsheim, March 3, 2005 - Hyundai Motor Europe GmbH today announced February sales of 26,005 vehicles, a new record for the month.  The results represent a 6 percent increase over February 2004. The Getz, led the sales increase with 7,146 units in Europe.

“Also our latest SUV model, the all-new Tucson, is going strong,” noted Werner H. Frey, Vice President of Hyundai Motor Europe GmbH. “The vehicle’s class-leading safety features and value positioning strongly resonate with consumers.”

Despite a reserved market behavior, new car buyers in Europe are increasingly favoring Hyundai models relatively to most other car brands.

“We are confident to raise the Hyundai brand profile even further”, said Frey. “Our latest model, the new Sonata, being in the show rooms this month, and the new Grandeur, premiering at the Geneva Auto Salon 2005, are excellent ‘ambassador models’ to underline our advancements in refinement, reliability and performance.”

On February 28, following the announcement to concentrate heavily on growing a distinctive brand image, Hyundai Motor Europe GmbH celebrated the ground breaking for a 50-million Euro headquarters from where – besides sales and after sales – all brand building activities will be coordinated.
