Hyundai Already Topped Last Year’s Sales Record
- European year to date sales surpassed 282,000 units
- Tucson is becoming Europe’s darling
Rüsselsheim, November 4th, 2004 – The October sales for Hyundai Motor in Europe showed a very satisfying result. Despite the car market continued to cooling off in October, Hyundai could welcome 26,303 new customers. By now, the company already surpassed its annual record result of 279,000 units from last year, looking forward with confidence to November and December sales. Hyundai targets an annual growth rate of more than 20 percent. Strongest in sales continue to be the passenger cars (14,063 units), followed by the recreational vehicles (11,423 units).
“Overall consumers spending have plunged in October, despite zero-percent financing and other incentives aiming at new car buyers. Not incentives proved irresistible to Europeans, but a deep trust in a lasting service promise and undoubted product reliability”, said Kwang Heum Um, President Hyundai Motor Europe GmbH, commenting on its company’s success in Europe. “People increasingly become resistant to so-called ‘special offers’. What counts is that people can trust a brand to deliver on its promises. Hyundai promises outstanding service and exceptional quality – a brand promise more and more customers become convinced of.”
A strong performance by Hyundai’s key-models underpinned October's sales growth. The Tucson SUV, released just three months ago, proved its popularity by achieving 4,800 units, ranking second right after Getz with 7,644 units. Sales of Santa Fe and Matrix reached 2,464 units and 2,277 units respectively.
Werner H. Frey, Vice President of Hyundai Motor Europe GmbH, thanked the Hyundai distributors and dealers for their continuing efforts. "October has seen our past achievements exceeded once again. Congratulations and appreciation must go to all the Hyundai distributors and dealers in Europe whose ongoing passion and commitment have enabled Hyundai to achieve this outstanding sales result." Established in 1967, Hyundai Motor Co. has grown into the Hyundai Automotive Group which includes Kia Motors Corp. and over two dozen auto-related subsidiaries and affiliates.
