 | With its Recyclability assessment program, Hyundai is at the forefront of enhancing recycling efforts in the automobile industry. Based on unique software, the program was developed in 1999, encompassing the concepts of value engineering and design for disassembly.
Designers can also calculate recyclability, recycling cost, disassemblability, disassembly time, and other material assessment data.
Furthermore, for easy classification of materials at the dismantling process, Hyundai Motor Company places a material code on all automotive parts weighing over 50g.
Also, water that is used for production is recycled to drinking standards in all of our factories.
What goes for Korea, goes for all other Hyundai sites around the globe. We are eager to set new standards in Europe, as well.
Hyundai’s dismantling process already exceeds the EU ELV Directive, which defines that plastic automotive parts weighing over 100g and rubber parts weighing over 200g have to be marked with material information.
And we will ensure that the new factory in Zilina, Slovakia, will meet our recycling criteria when it starts production in 2006. |
